CICS Software Developer
In winter 2015 I was promoted out of the Graduate scheme, becoming a CICS developer.
The responsibilities are much the same, but with more focus of gaining z Systems skills to aid both the development and test teams. My main task is to test WebSphere Liberty features in a CICS Liberty JVM server, but this release I am also helping develop CICS code to fully integrate some of the more complex features. My main skills are in Java but, with the help of the internal z/Professions course, I am able to code in PL/X to some degree of proficiency.
In free moments I am also leading the way to provide analytics to the team on our delivery pipeline. This uses IBM SPSS and WebSphere Liberty in combination with a d3-based library for visualisation. The ultimate aim is to provide a better view on our test landscape, including being able to 'learn' the reliability of our tests.
